Auberge Aux deux Lions Inn hotel Traveler Reviews

Beautiful inn and wonderful host!
May 21, 2009

We loved our stay at the Auberge Aux deux Lions in the beautiful city of Quebec. This inn is located very close to the wonderful shops and restaurants on Rue Cartier and only a 10 minute walk to old Quebec. Can't say enough about how much we enjoyed Quebec City. It is an amazing city and the people were very friendly even though we are unable to speak French.
We were fortunate to be able to stay in the top suite of the inn which was beautifully decorated. The suite was really large with a kitchen, a living room area and a lovely bathroom with a big bathtub. The bed was very comfortable with a cosy duvet and wonderful sheets. The entire inn is immaculate and perfectly maintained.
We didn't have the continental breakfast but the breakfast room looked warm and inviting. There is a kitchen area provided for the guests with a pop machine. There is also a deck where guests can relax and enjoy a glass of wine. Parking is available in the back for a fee.
Jean-Francois is a warm, helpful, fun, interesting, thoughtful and kind host. He makes this inn sparkle with his energy and enthusiasm.
We regret that we only had one night to enjoy this inn but plan a longer visit in the future.
Thanks, Jean-Francois, for taking such good care of us and providing us with such a lovely place to stay! We'll be back!

“wonderful hospitality“

My husband and I stayed here with my senior parents, when we were visiting our son who conveniently lives up the street from Jean-Francois. He was a wonderful host to us all, and was especially gracious to my parents. We all had great fun with English/French expressions, a lively education for us all! The facilities are very comfortable, with enough space in our room to have our family get-together. Jean-Francois knows alot of the area which saved us from wandering on our limited time. We'll be back soon to visit our son, and our new friend!

“Two Thumbs Way UP!”

We happened upon Auberge de Deux Lions by chance on a blustery and cold evening this past December while on a much-need and very last minute vacation to Quebec City. My travelling companion and I arrived without accommodation, and in the hope that we would stumble upon a quaint and affordable bed and breakfast or budget hotel. We were not disappointed. In fact, Auberge de Deux Lions and its lovely – albeit chatty - proprietor, Jean-Francois, exceeded our expectations in every respect.

We were kindly referred here by another B&B owner who had no room available at his inn. Upon arriving rather late in the evening, Jean-Francois graciously greeted us at the door and gave us an energetic tour of the rooms available. Auberge de Deux Lions is very modern – having recently been renovated throughout – and extremely clean (you could eat off the bathroom floor!). We opted for a small and affordable room in the cozy basement area (only $99 for two) and enjoyed an inexpensive continental breakfast the following morning ($6 each). We were so delighted by our experience that we chose to stay again on New Year’s Eve, especially because of its close proximity to the Old Town (about a 10-15 minute walk) and all of the festivities.

If your idea of a true B&B experience is kitschy baubles, fresh flowers on your nightstand and lavender-scented pillowcases, I encourage you to look elsewhere. Auberge de Deux Lions is best suited for the kind of traveler looking for reasonable and reliable accommodation and service as well as those charming extras - the endlessly pleasant Jean –Francois, sparkling faucets, gleaming white linens, homey duvets, a great location and modern feel. I highly recommend Auberge de Deux Lions during your stay in la belle province. Passez un bon séjour!

After searching online for 2 hours I found this Inn and booked us a stay during carnaval. Minutes after booking the owner (Jean-François) called me to inquire about needing parking or directions.
Upon arriving he greeted us and supplied us a map of the city and gave us suggestions about things to see and do in Québec city. The room was clean and comfortable with a shared kitchen which was also tidy and easily accessible.
What made our stay at the Deux Lions great was the hospitality and the little services. Here are some examplles:
Jean-François secured us a reservation at a nice restaurant (La Scala) on Valentines Day (no small feat).
In the morning he brushed the snow off our car.
On our last night he left some Champagne for us to share.
We had a great trip and The Deux Lions definately contributed to that!
