SPOT for Sympathique Place Ouverte à Tous which means The Friendly Place Open to All, seeks the recovery and reclamation of abandoned urban site, by including an ephemeral public square for citizens of Quebec City. These discover a platform for cultural and community outreach, supported by architectural installations designed and built by students at the School of Architecture at Université Laval and professional architects.
A rich and diverse program, SPOT offers a variety of free activities, adapted to different visitors who will be likely to visit to create a fully inclusive space. Activities such as theater evenings, the outdoor cinema, artistic, educational seminars or sports activities will take place there in a pleasant and open atmosphere. A food offering and a bar also enliven the place. At programming image, the public square is flexible and inclusive. Capable of deploying to host larger events, it also offers a more intimate and casual everyday. Despite the ephemeral nature of the project, invested the place sees enhanced beyond the summer with some more permanent facilities. Bringing people of all backgrounds, SPOT is a summer essential, a place of meeting and exchange offering a unique and unexpected urban experience!
